New Music Video -- Cali Stand Up!

Lady Remedy
Everyone knows I am in support of young LA talent who are working their butt off. After listening to Drake's extremely depressing single "Marvin's Room" then hearing little JoJo curse and talk about sex for the 1st time immediately following, I needed a pick-me-up stat! I came across Lady Remedy's new video "The Way U Do" directed and filmed by Tyren Redd.

With a MC swag of Missy Elliot and the ability to rap and sing similar to Drizzy Drake on a happier day, "The Way U Do" features Lady Remedy and a new love she wasn't really expecting to go far with but ended up being exactly what she needed.

Before watching the video I had never heard of Lady Remedy so I snooped around YouTube and found a song entitled "Radio" that I feel in love with and downloaded it [FOR FREE] from her website. I cannot wait to hear more from Lady Remedy and see what other projects Tyren puts his hands on.

The Blink Campaign

"Life Can Change in the BLINK of an Eye"

When I began DGFU Clothing late 2010, I know from the start that I wanted to link my clothing line to an organization. After about a month, I came across The Blink Campaign, an organization geared toward finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. After listening to the story behind the organization and how the message turned when the founder's best friend took his own life after finding out he was HIV positive, I know I wanted to do my part.

Today, June 5, 2011, is a special day. Today starts The Blink Campaign along with the Until There's a Cure Foundation's "Money Bomb", a tactic used to raise money that will be dispersed to community based research organizations working to find a cure.

I also designed a special DGFU shirt for the campaign that is available on my website. A portion of the sales will be given to The Blink Campaign to help them on their mission. I am proud to support.

This will not be the only day to contribute. Funds will be collected throughout the year. If you would like more information or to donate please visit theBLINKcampaign.org.

The Undie Run: DGFU gets buck!

Cheers to the freakin weekend, or to summer break for that matter! Everyone has a different way of celebrating the end of a long strenuous semester that's grand finale is a week replaced with Monster energy drinks, distracting Facebook breaks, and catching up with an entire semesters worth of material. To the college educated of Southern California, the traditional "Undie Run" is no new concept. The phrase speaks for itself... you run in your undies!

Schools are now starting to come to a conclusion and DGFU Undies sales are on the raise! No one wants to be that basic bitch with the granny panties or the Fruit of the Loom bonus pack boxers. Unless you were a messy little tramp for the past four to five years, many of your college peers have not had the pleasure of seeing your physique in skimpy undergarments. The Undie Run allows you show off that creativity from Art 101 and that amazing, or not so amazing, body you have been power walking all over campus with. With everyone in a state of excitement and intoxication, no one cares what you look like. All you have to worry about is staying warm and avoiding getting tagged on Facebook! It is time to celebrate the survival of yet another semester that will bring you one closer to walking across the stage!

Obviously is this nothing you would see a FAMU in the south partake in, BUT I'm Cali bred so "When in Rome...". Just having some innocent fun :)

One Year ReCAP

"Life is 10% of what happens and 90% of what you make of it..."

May 15, 2010
I cannot believe a year has already passed. Next week marks the date when I strutted across the stage in a cheap and poorly made gown as a complete stranger mispronounced my name "Jay-Cee Sadler" to get my temporary college degree [kind of like the DMV]. That day felt like 1,536,369 pounds being lifted off my bony shoulders and gently placed next to me. Yes, the year has come and gone quickly, but so much has changed in this little life of mine.

If you would have told me a year ago that I would own my own clothing line, living single in a chic studio apartment in Los Angeles, and a visual manager for one of the top retail companies in the country, I would given you my typical *blankstare* that everyone seems to have grown to love. Toward the end of my college career I had two second job interviews lined up in Atlanta and was determined to get out of The OC. I was in the beginning stages of a relationship that once meant everything to me that today is a distant memory. Once I decided that I didn't want to move to "the south", I was instantly was thrown into the giant pool of post grads looking for a job in Southern California. With the mentality that I was going to win, I landed my "dream job" that didn't turn out to be so dreamy, nor financially stable! So I quit.

One thing that is profound to me is that I don't like the jobs where I'm actually using my degree, but I love my college job serving where I make just as much money in 1/2 the time and still have a ball with all my loony customers and even crazier coworkers. Who would have thunk?! I'm also going back to school beginning this summer. Something that I would have never foreseen. But this time I am doing it for me [and to defer my student loans LOL]. My four year experience at CSUF was priceless and I would never take it back for anything, but I went to college because that's what society says to do, not for me. The program I am enrolling in will help me with my business which will one day be my full time "job".

The end of 2010 was definitely a year of "Trial & Error". The biggest lesson that I have learned is to be flexible and do what makes you happy. I worked my ass off in college to make sure my resume was all set to go after I graduation, yet come to find out I don't even like the field I studied LOL. I was reminded of how young I am and not to take life too seriously. Listen to the advice of others, but walk your own path. I'm taking my time traveling, learning, loving and BEING HAPPY!

Lesson #14: Chains & Whips Excite Me [SSS&MMM]

You know I love this girl! The Side Show Bob hair and it is working for her. Check out Rihanna's lastest video for S&M off LOUD. She's as bad as she wants to be!

Just in case you didn't know what you were screaming at the top of your lungs. S&M stands for "Sadism" & "Masochism"

Sadism - [sey-diz-uhm, sad-iz-] noun. sexual gratification gained through causing painor degradation to others.

Masochism - [mas-uh-kiz-uhm, maz-] noun. the condition in which sexual gratification depends on suffering, physical pain, and humiliation.

Lesson #13: Venice

Yesterday I crossed over into Californication. In all of my years of living, I had never been to Venice Beach, CA. Hearing tales of craziness that goes down at the hippie infested Boardwalk, I decided to throw on my DGFU Tank and make the journey. I was definitely in for an adventure.

I learned last week that the beaches in LA are not like OC beaches at all. After almost getting hit by a speeding Volvo while sprinting across PCH and hurdling over center dividers, I knew parking was going to be a task. A quarter tank and a few illegal U-Turns later, my sister and I were strutting down the Boardwalk. The first thing I noticed was how many black people there were because they said African Americans don't go the beach! With the sudden urge to break out into the "Cat Daddy", we continued down to see what other witchcraft was in store. We visited the infamous "Muscle Beach" to find only one person working out. That is not what they depicted on Spongebob. I was shocked to see how open everyone was about selling weed at the "Kush Klubhouse" and insisted pedestrians go visit the Dr. Kush. After devouring an imitation "Hollywood Hotdog" that cost me twice as much, I ran into the love of my life. A couple were selling 3 month old Pitbull puppies. I will be a dog owner by Summer 2011

Venice reminded me of Rocket Power. I could tell some of the older people there have made Venice Beach their chaotic, yet laid back, sanctuary for decades. Watching the edgy skateboarders plunge into a vacant swimming pool as the sun drifted behind distant mountains along the coast, it painted a perfect picture of what California living is about. I will definitely be going back for some discounted bargain hunting and to TwitPic more weirdos!

This man tried to kill my sister, so I took a picture.

He was going IN! TIU!

He was ready to kill me.

Lesson #12: K24 or Die

Although I have [and will probably always have], the physique of Jack Skeleton from "The Nightmare Before Christmas", I love to eat! When I used to make the mission from The OC to Hollywood for wild nights of pop, locking, and dropping, there was always a mandatory pit stop to fill my tummy on the way home. When I was craving something more than a greasy bacon wrapped hot dog from the sassy Hot Dog Lady, I stopped at the infamous Kitchen 24 in Hollywood.

All I can say is "YUM!". Located in the heart of Hollywood on Cahuenga Blvd. between Sunset and Hollywood Blvd, K24 is a short drive or walk from any popular club in the area. I like to think of it as an "upscale Dennys". Amazing breakfast food and other typical American dishes prepared in a more prestige way. Blasting all of the club bangers, the night continues while you debrief on the evening's festivities over French Toast or loaded "Smac n Cheese". K24 is the perfect way to end the night.

My favorite dish on the menu is the Build-Your-Own omelette with a side of the AMAZING breakfast potatoes. Sometimes I pay a little more to get my omelette made with only egg whites. Instead of blowing your wallet at Berri's, take your half fancy and slightly inebriated body to Kitchen 24 to soak up some of that A.M.F. and converse with close, or maybe not so close, friends. Occasionally, you may run into your B List celebrity or witness a crazy group of friends turn from smiles to throwing forks at the glass walls and being escorted out by management. If you are lucky, both will happen in the same night like it did for me! If you cannot make it that night, it makes a great spot for Sunday brunch because it is open 24 hours a day [hints the name Kitchen 24 *wink*].

With a fully stocked bar and a young 50's flair to the establishment, K24 is perfect for any occasion. Plus, did I mention the AMAZING breakfast potatoes?! I may have an addiction.
